Datapack Extensions

by TheDeathlyCow

Datapack Extensions gives datapack authors new commands, predicates and conditions, and it runs on the server alone.

FabricServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 1.19

What it does

The mod adds a set of tools for building datapacks, including a tdcdata.type predicate that checks light and a location check, a tdcdata.item condition, and extra math operations for scoreboard players. It modifies vanilla behaviour without changing how existing datapacks work, and one new command extends three vanilla commands. Custom argument types show proper auto-complete and error messages when the mod is only on the server.

Because the core features run on the server, players join without installing anything, and the optional client-side parts only add to what already works. Fabric API is required. The mod is open source under the MIT License and is published for 1.18.2 and 1.19, with 0.1.3+1.19 for 1.19 as the latest file.

Key features

  1. Light and location predicates

A tdcdata.type predicate checks light levels and uses a location check, so datapacks can react to conditions the vanilla predicates do not cover.

  2. Item condition and math operations

A tdcdata.item condition is available to datapacks, and new scoreboard operations extend the arithmetic that vanilla offers.

  3. Extended vanilla commands

One new command extends three vanilla commands, and a 0.1.2 custom argument type adds a tdcdata.function subcommand for scoreboard players.

  4. Unobtainable creative group

A creative inventory group holds command blocks, structure blocks and light blocks, mainly as a quick way to get items without long give commands. Most items there do nothing for non-operators.

How it compares

Full comparison

Datapack Item Operations is a Fabric mod for 1.17 that adds item operations for datapacks, with a server required and client optional environment under the MIT License. Chime runs on Fabric and Quilt for 1.16 – 1.20.4, is client-side only and is open source under the MIT License, so it covers a different part of the setup. RadiusToolLib is server required with a client optional, built for 1.19.4 only, and is also under the MIT License.

Questions

Does Datapack Extensions need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is a required dependency and must be installed with the mod on Fabric.

Do players need the mod to join a server that runs it?

No. Players join without it, since only the server has to run the mod.

Which game versions are covered?

Files exist for 1.18.2 and 1.19. The latest Fabric file, 0.1.3+1.19, is built for 1.19 and was released on 2022-06-17.

Can the custom command arguments be used on the client without the mod?

Yes. Commands still work without the mod on the client, but auto-complete and error messages for the custom argument types only appear when the mod is installed client-side.

What the author says

The aim of this mod is simple: give datapack authors more tools to create the things they want. This mod primarily operates on the server side (though it does have some optional client side stuff, too). As of now, it adds one new command, extends the functionality of three vanilla commands, and extends one vanilla…
