Take a Seat!

Pressing the X key, which can be rebound in the Controls options, starts the Take Seat action. The mod checks the player's context in a fixed order and uses the first match, so what the player is looking at or holding decides the pose: a sword held while standing gives a sword pose, a chair gives a chair pose, and an empty hand looking at a campfire, furnace, stair, fence, bed or the ground gives its own pose. Pressing the key again cycles through the variations of the current category. Sitting is not possible while airborne, swimming, underwater or riding an entity.

Take Seat ships 20 hand-made sitting animations. An automatic third person view can switch on while seated and return to the previous view on standing, and a focus camera can ease downward and keep the body centered. Sitting works on the sit command too. The client sends each sit to the server, which relays it to every player running the mod, so other players see the animation. Players already sitting when someone joins are synced automatically. Blocks can be made sittable by adding the takeaseat:sittable block tag in a data file, and bottom slabs and carpets are recognized without any tag.

Take Seat is built on Fabric and NeoForge and targets 1.21.1, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, with the latest files for 26.3. Only the client needs the mod, and the server may run it to share animations with players. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. It replaces the discontinued Sitting Plus, which ran on the Player Animation Library backend, with a from-scratch rebuild.
