TAB Compass
by WhozScott
TAB Compass places a small colored dot beside each player's name in the Tab player list, matching the locator-bar compass colors.
What it does
In the Tab player list, each player gets a small dot whose color matches the compass shown on the vanilla locator bar. Usernames keep their normal colors, and the vanilla ping bars stay as they are. The dots appear only on the client, so a player joining a server needs nothing extra from the server side.
Locator-bar colors are only present in builds for 1.21.6 and later, and the mod stays usable on the earlier versions it still supports. It can be used without player heads being shown in the list. Fabric API is required on either loader, and the mod is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 10 release versions, 1.21.6 – 26.2, under All rights reserved, which means it is not open source.
Key features
Locator-colored dots
A small dot beside each player's name in the Tab list shows the color the locator bar would assign that player.
Vanilla color matching
The dot colors are taken from the same palette the vanilla locator bar uses, so the two displays agree.
Unchanged name and ping display
Usernames keep their normal colors and the vanilla ping bars remain visible next to each entry.
Works without player heads
The dots still show when player heads are hidden in the Tab list.
