Sync Re-Forged
by redshrt
Sync Re-Forged lets a player move their consciousness between body shells, with a Shell Constructor and Shell Storage to build and hold them.
What it does
A Shell Constructor is crafted and set on the ground, then needs a power supply before it can run, because it draws energy to operate. Once a shell is constructed, a Shell Storage can be crafted and placed to keep shells on hand. A player gets a sample by right-clicking the constructor, and a radial menu lists the shells a player owns so one can be chosen and switched to.
Shells carry their own health and stats. In the hardcore setting a shell that takes 20 damage is lost, and eating a golden apple raises maximum health, while a Totem of Undying lets a player survive a fatal hit. Energy for the constructor can come from a Treadmill placed next to a lure, such as a pig or wolf, which generates energy from the entity. Power only moves through the mod when the redstone and Forge Energy options are enabled in the config for the treadmill and machine mods.
Sync Re-Forged is a NeoForge port of Sync; the original was written by Kir Antipov for Fabric and later rebuilt as a reimplementation, and the concept traces back to an iChun mod. Sync Re-Forged is licensed under the MIT License and is not open source. Its files target 1.21.1 only, and it runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it.
