Submerged Explosions

by xBigEllx

Submerged Explosions changes how blasts interact with water and other liquids, so that explosions near liquid blocks behave differently from those on dry ground.

ForgeServer-side onlyAll rights reserved1.12.2 – 1.20.6

What it does

Liquid blocks can be configured to resist or absorb explosion damage, which makes water and similar liquids a practical barrier against blasts. A server owner can set a multiplier that scales how much blast resistance liquids receive, and a BreakLiquids option controls whether explosions may destroy liquid blocks in the first place. Because the mod runs on the server, players join without installing it. Files target Forge only, for 1.12.2 – 1.20.6, with 1.0.0 as the latest file for 1.20.6.

Key features

  1. Liquid blast resistance

Water and other liquid blocks gain blast resistance, so explosions can be stopped or softened by a body of liquid.

  2. Realistic blast physics

Explosions that reach submerged blocks follow the liquid rules, not the dry-ground rules, which changes how structures under water are damaged.

  3. Throwable explosives

Explosive items can be thrown, and the resulting blasts are subject to the same liquid interaction as other explosions.

How it compares

Full comparison

Full Turtle Armor covers equipment rather than explosions, and it is client and server, under All rights reserved, with files for 1.16.4 – 1.21.5 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Vybuchit (Explosives) is also All rights reserved and client and server, but it adds explosives for Forge and NeoForge across 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 rather than changing liquid behavior.

What the author says

Description --- Submerged Explosions allows blocks to be destroyed by explosions that are submerged in liquids. Aside from the added realism, this will now prevent players from using water and other liquids to protect their structures from explosion damage.
