Straw Bed Backport

by gvoze32

Straw Bed Backport brings the Straw Bed block from newer Minecraft updates back to older game versions, and players can craft it from hay bales.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.18.2 – 26.2

What it does

A straw bed works as a single-use block: using it lets a player skip the night and leaves their saved respawn location untouched. Placing it sets no new home, so the original respawn location stays where it was. A bed breaks after it is used, so each night takes one block, and using it in the Nether or the End breaks it safely without an explosion. A placed composter has a 65% chance to raise its compost level when a straw bed is put in it.

The straw bed is crafted at a crafting table from three hay bales laid horizontally. The mod is built for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge and needs Fabric API on Fabric. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files cover 1.18.2 – 26.2, and the mod is released under the MIT License as open source.

Key features

  1. Straw bed crafting

Three hay bales placed horizontally on a crafting table produce a straw bed.

  2. Sleep without moving spawn

The straw bed lets players skip the night while keeping the original spawn point.

  3. Single-use bed

The block breaks after use, and it is safe to use in the Nether and End.

  4. Composter interaction

Dropping a straw bed into a composter gives a 65% chance that the compost level goes up.
