Steam's Primitive Chests
Steam's Primitive Chests replaces the vanilla chest recipe with cheaper early-game options, so storage takes more planning in the opening stages of a world.
What it does
The mod swaps the standard chest recipe for a primitive version built from planks and cobblestone equivalents, and adds an advanced primitive chest that is crafted from a primitive chest. Storage becomes a scarcer resource, and players must decide where their inventory space goes before they can afford more of it.
The mod is aimed at modpacks that slow technological progress on purpose, such as SevTech, where gradual advancement and resource management form the core of play. It was first developed as a port of PrimalChests for an earlier game version and later rebuilt for 1.20.1 by its author, who kept it functional with the newer game version. The mod is published for Forge, and its environment is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is open source under the MIT License.
