Stalwart Dungeons
by furti-two
Stalwart Dungeons adds three hard dungeons to the Nether and End for adventurers who want to collect relics and artifacts.
What it does
Two dungeons generate in the Nether. The Awful Dungeon appears in a pair of Nether biomes, and The Keeping Castle appears in another pair. A third dungeon generates in the End, in the Void and Midlands biomes. Each one can be placed with an item from the creative inventory.
The Awful Dungeon holds the Awful Ghast, a boss released by placing a Nether Star on its altar. It attacks from range with projectiles that disable held items and set the player on fire, then dashes in with heavy damage. Its defeat drops Awful Crystals and an Awful Gun. The Keeping Castle holds the Nether Keeper and statues that ignite as Giddy Blazes when a player approaches.
The mod also adds hammers in wood, stone, iron, gold, diamond and tungsten, which can be enchanted to call lightning when the player sneaks and strikes. Tungsten is a new ore found in the Awful Dungeon, used for tools and armor that resist the Wither and Burn effects. Stalwart Dungeons is published for Forge only, with the client and server both needing it, under the MIT License. It is not open source. The latest release is 1.2.8 for 1.20.1.
Key features
Awful Dungeon with a boss fight
The Awful Ghast has two combat phases, ranged projectiles followed by a close dash, and drops unique loot.
Keeping Castle statues
Statues ignite as Giddy Blazes when a player comes close, turning the castle into an ambush space.
Igniter and Pusher traps
Igniters apply the Burn effect to anything crossing them, while Pushers move mobs and items along their top surface.
Enchantable hammers
Six hammer tiers can be enchanted to strike lightning when the player sneaks and hits with them.
Tungsten ore
A new ore from the Awful Dungeon supports gear that resists the Wither and Burn effects.

How it compares
Magical Relics is also a Forge mod for 1.19.2 – 1.20.1 with client and server environment, licensed under the MIT License and open source, so it covers fewer versions than Stalwart Dungeons. Goblins & Dungeons targets 1.16.4 – 1.18.2 for Forge with the client and server both needed and is not open source. Structures Plus II is a Forge mod for 1.16.5 – 1.20.1 that runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it, and it is not open source.
