Mutated Items
by furti-two
Throwing an item into a Nether portal can turn it into a creature in Mutated Items, a Forge and NeoForge mod that adds sixteen mutated item mobs for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1.
What it does
Each mutated creature starts from a familiar Minecraft item. A player sends the item through a Nether portal, and a one-in-ten roll decides whether it transforms into a new mob. The mod covers several kinds of creature, from a small companion that lights up dark areas to a ninja training dummy, a jelly bear, and a demon that throws energy blades.
Some mutated items serve as tools or fixtures rather than fighters. A cage that gets its arms and legs from a Jack o' Lantern placed on a Dungeon Spawner works like a regular spawner, with the difference that it digests certain items and then spawns the mob it has absorbed every 30 seconds. Other creatures attract hostile mobs, set attackers on fire, or can be repaired with slimeballs.
Mutated Items is published for Forge and NeoForge only, with builds for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. Both sides need the mod, so the server and every player must install it. The license is All rights reserved, so the mod is not open source.
