Spyglass Astronomy Sync

by fliplus

With Spyglass Astronomy Sync installed, servers can send the Spyglass Astronomy settings to every connected player, so the two sides stay matched.

FabricClient and serverGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21 – 26.3

What it does

The mod is a Fabric companion to Spyglass Astronomy and cannot run alone. Fabric API and Spyglass Astronomy are both required. Its job is to keep the client and server copies of the Spyglass Astronomy setup aligned during a multiplayer session, so a player joins with the same configuration the server uses.

The configuration file is read only when the server starts, so changes made while the server is running take effect after a restart. Server owners can allow or block admin commands for the sga:admin set and note features, and admin access is limited to the operators the server grants it to. Both the server and every player need the mod installed for the synchronization to take effect.

Spyglass Astronomy Sync runs on client and server and is published for Fabric only. Files cover 1.21 – 26.3 across 17 release versions, the latest being 1.1.1+26.3 for 26.3, and the code is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so it is open source.

Key features

  1. Server-to-client synchronization

Settings from the server are passed to connected players so that both sides apply the same Spyglass Astronomy behavior.

  2. Admin command control

A config option decides whether the sga:admin commands are available to players, and the server can switch them off.

  3. Startup-only configuration

The configuration file is read only at server startup, so edits need a server restart before they apply.

  4. Multiplayer focus

The mod is built for multiplayer sessions, where client and server copies of the astronomy setup must agree.

Questions

Does Spyglass Astronomy Sync need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is listed as a required dependency, and Spyglass Astronomy is required as well. Both must be installed next to this mod.

Do players need the mod if the server has it?

Yes. The environment is client and server, so both the server and every player need Spyglass Astronomy Sync for the synchronization to take effect.

Why do config changes need a restart?

The configuration file is only read when the server starts. After editing it, restart the server for the changes to take effect.
