Spud's shops
Spud's shops adds decorative player shops with a simple trading interface, and it has to run on both the server and every client.
What it does
A shop is a placeable block that players set up to sell items. The owner gives other players access by having them right click a contract scroll to sign it, then adding the contract to the shop in the permission row of choice. Removing a contract takes that player's permissions away again. Shops can be swapped between wood types, and a GUI texture exists for every wood type, with extra polish for coloured rug shops. Only the owner or creative players can break a shop; anyone else is blocked.
The mod needs Fabric API on Fabric. It is open source under the MIT License and published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 13 release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.11. Shops on Forge and NeoForge build for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, with the latest Fabric file for 1.21.1 dated 2025-10-03. Source code and an issue tracker are public.
Key features
Decorative shop blocks
Shops have a remodelled base with adjusted height, and each wood type has its own texture.
Permission contracts
Players sign a contract scroll to gain access, and removing the contract revokes it.
Protected shops
Only the owner and creative players can destroy a shop, which guards against other players breaking it.
Depreciated shop indicator
A visual marker shows when a shop has been depreciated, so buyers can see its state at a glance.
Trading interface tweaks
The trading screen has quality-of-life changes and an unrestricted layout, with added Spanish translations.

Use cases
Player markets on survival servers
Server owners can let players set up shops along a town street, with contracts controlling who may stock them.
Who it’s for: Server owners and players who want shops that look like part of a build, rather than a plain trading block.
How it compares
Simple Shops Fix is server-side only, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and covers 1.20.1 on Forge, so players join without installing it. Market Player runs on NeoForge for 1.21.1 with client and server, under All rights reserved and closed source. Snurbo's Shops is a Fabric mod for 1.21.1 where the server requires it and clients may leave it out, under All rights reserved.
