Spotify Controller

by tiji

Spotify Controller lets a player run Spotify playback from inside Minecraft, so the game does not need to be alt-tabbed out to change a song.

FabricClient-side onlyCreative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.01.21 – 26.3

What it does

Playback can be paused, resumed, skipped or rewound from the game, and a previous track can be replayed. The mod also lets a player seek to a chosen position, search for a song and view the playback queue. Synced lyrics are shown through LRCLIB, which the author thanks in the mod notes. The mod shows what is currently playing, so the track name is visible without leaving the game.

Setup is done once through the Spotify developer app. The player follows the official guide for creating an app, sets the redirect URI through a pop-up that opens with the Z key, and pastes the Client ID and Client Secret into the fields at the bottom of the page. Spotify Premium must be active on the account. After signing in, pressing Z again opens the playback controls. The mod needs Fabric and runs only on the client, so servers do not need it. Files exist across 17 release versions, with 4.5.1 for 26.3 as the latest. It is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Playback controls in game

Pause, resume, skip to the next track and replay the previous one from the game screen.

  2. Seek and search

A chosen position in the current song can be reached directly, and any song can be searched by name.

  3. Queue and current track

The playback queue can be viewed, and the track playing now is shown without switching windows.

  4. Synced lyrics

Lyrics stay in time with the song, using the LRCLIB service for their data.

  5. Guided Spotify setup

A pop-up with a button walks through redirect URI setup, and the Client ID and Client Secret are entered in the same screen.
