With Create contraptions, Sophisticated Storage blocks keep their inventories, upgrades and settings while they move on trains, rotating platforms and flying machines.

What it does

Barrels, chests and shulker boxes from Sophisticated Storage can be mounted on Create contraptions. Their contents stay in place during movement, and installed upgrades, upgrade settings and inventory settings such as memorized slots are kept. Most upgrades keep working while the block is in motion, so a storage block on a train still behaves like one placed in a base.

The add-on requires Create, Sophisticated Core and Sophisticated Storage, and Just Enough Items (JEI) is an optional companion. A server running it needs every connecting player to have it too. Files are published for Forge and NeoForge across 11 release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.2, under All rights reserved, and it is not open source. Public links exist for the source code and the issue tracker.

  1. Moving storage blocks

    Barrels, chests and shulker boxes can be placed on contraptions and keep working while the contraption moves.

  2. Persistent contents

    Items inside a moved storage block remain there, so transported stock does not spill or reset during travel.

  3. Retained upgrades

    Installed upgrades and their settings survive being mounted, which lets most upgrade functions continue in motion.

  4. Memorized inventory settings

    Inventory settings such as memorized slots are kept, so a moving block sorts its items the same way it did at rest.

A storage car on a Create train carries sorted stock between stations with its upgrades and slot layout intact.
