Solid Mobs

by Traben

Solid Mobs lets living mobs collide with players and blocks, so entities can be stood on and pushed like solid objects, with a set of configurable options for the behaviour.

What it does

Mobs gain collision interactions similar to blocks, which boats already have in vanilla. Standing on a mob or riding one carries the player along with it, and holding crouch keeps a player on a moving mob instead of sliding off. Most living mobs collide by default, with a few exceptions such as the Ender Dragon, which the author notes behaves a little differently. Which mobs collide is set in the config, and a command lets an operator change the settings in-game without editing files.

The options cover more than plain collision. Fallen mobs can take a percentage of fall damage, slimes can be made bouncy like slime blocks, specific mob types can be excluded from collisions, and a mob can be set to collide only from the top, so it works like a platform. The mod runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. Snapshot builds are published for testing.

Key features

  1. Mob collisions

Living mobs collide like blocks, so players can stand on them and bump into them as with solid objects.

  2. Bouncy slimes

An option makes slimes bounce like slime blocks when the player lands on them.

  3. Fall damage percentage

Fallen mobs take a configurable share of fall damage instead of the vanilla amount.

  4. Top-only collision

Mobs can be set to collide only from above, so they act as platforms for players.

  5. In-game commands

A command lets operators view and change the mod's settings during play, without restarting.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want mobs to behave like solid blocks, mainly in creative builds, parkour maps and modded experiments. The mod changes gameplay for every entity it touches, so it suits worlds where that is intended.

What the author says

A Minecraft Fabric mod that gives entities collisions and interactions like blocks or boats already do. Standing on a mob has you move with them, and you can hold crouch to stick to the mob and not fall off (as can happen with high lag).
