With Smooth Gui, the screens that open in Minecraft slide in and fade up instead of appearing at once.
What it does
The mod changes how interface screens appear. When a menu opens, it slides into place and its background overlay fades in, with an optional background blur that fades in alongside it. The timing and style of these animations can be adjusted in the mod's config file, so the effect can be shortened or turned down to suit a player's taste.
Smooth Gui is client-side only, so only the player's game needs it and servers run without it. It is released under the MIT License, and its source code and issue tracker are public. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the latest builds target game versions 1.20.1 – 26.3. Fabric players can set the mod up through Mod Menu, which is an optional dependency.

Players who find instant menu pop-ins jarring can use the fades and slides to ease screens into view.
Tuning the effect
Players who want a faster or more subtle transition can adjust the animations in the config.
Who it’s for: Players who want smoother interface transitions in their client. It is not needed on servers, since it only changes how screens are drawn on the player's side.
How it compares
Blur+ is also client-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt across 1.15 – 26.3, but it does not include Forge builds. Animation Overhaul is client-side only with a custom license and covers 1.19 – 1.20.4 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, so its version range ends before Smooth Gui's.
