SkinsRestorer
SkinsRestorer lets server owners change the skins players see on their servers, in both offline and online mode, without each player editing their own profile.
What it does
Players who join a server running SkinsRestorer can have a skin set or changed while they stay connected, which covers servers that run without Mojang authentication as well as online-mode servers. The skin is applied on the server side, so a player does not need to upload a file to a website first.
The mod is server-side and needs Fabric API as its required dependency on Fabric. The NeoForge build has no required dependency listed. Optional dependencies NeoForwarding and NeoVelocity are named by the catalog as additional integrations. Files exist for Fabric and NeoForge, with game versions 1.8 – 26.3 (75 release versions), and the latest files are 15.12.6 for 26.3, dated 2026-09-20.
The code is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and public links are available for the source code, issue tracker and wiki. The project was first published on 2025-02-07.

Use cases
Offline servers
Servers that do not authenticate players with Mojang can still let each player have a visible skin.
Restoring skins
An operator can restore a player's skin after it was changed or lost, without the player re-uploading it.
Who it’s for: Server owners and administrators who run Java servers and want players to see custom skins, including on offline-mode servers.
How it compares
AutoServer is server-side only, runs on Fabric for 1.7.2 – 1.21.10 and is open source under the MIT License. Offline Players needs the server to run it while clients may skip it, works on Fabric for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 and is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later. SeamlessLogin is client-side only, targets NeoForge for 1.21.8 and is open source under the MIT License, so it only affects the player's side.
