Skin Hotkey
by DearFox
Skin Hotkey lets players switch off the second skin layer with a single key press, and it can group parts so several elements change at once.
What it does
Pressing the S key turns off the second skin layer on the player model, which hides the outer clothing overlay. The toggle works from the keyboard while the game is running, with no menu needed to change it. Parts of the model can be set up with buttons that enable or disable them one at a time, and the settings are remembered between sessions, so the state a player chose is still in place after a restart.
Groups bundle several elements under one bind. A group can cover everything except the raincoat top layer, or the two arms and the body, or the two legs, and a single button toggles the whole set. The mod is client-side only, so it changes what the local player sees and needs nothing on a server. Fabric API is required on the Fabric loader, and the mod is published for Fabric and Forge across 1.16.1 – 1.20.4, with 1.2.1 as the latest Fabric file and 1.3 as the latest Forge file. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Second layer toggle
The S key switches the outer skin layer off and on, so players can change the look of their model quickly.
Per-part buttons
A Parts section assigns a button to each part of the model, so every part can be enabled or disabled on its own.
Grouped binds
Parts can be combined into a group bound to one key, for example G for the head, arms and legs, so they change together.
Reverse state
Pressing a part's button flips its state to the opposite, and a group can be reversed in the same way.
Remembered settings
The mod remembers the part states chosen earlier, so the model looks the same after the game restarts.
