Skin Changer
by spunkyinsaan
Players who want a different look without restarting the game can switch Minecraft skins with Skin Changer, a Fabric mod that works from commands.
What it does
Skin Changer lets a player replace their own skin while the game is running. Skins can be copied from another player, loaded from a web address, or read from an image file stored on the computer. Each change is made with a command, so switching between looks takes only a few seconds, and the world does not need to be reloaded.
The mod works in singleplayer, so a skin can be changed at any point during play. It is a client-side mod: only the client needs it, and servers run without it. Skin Changer is published for Fabric only, across 12 release versions 1.21.1 – 26.3, and the latest Fabric file targets 26.3. The code is released under the MIT License, and the mod is not open source. The author has said a server-side version may come later so that skins could also work on multiplayer servers, but no such version is listed here.

How it compares
Skin Replace is client-side only and under the MIT License, with files for 1.21 – 26.2, so it covers a wider span of versions. Life Skins is server-side only and open source, published for 1.21.5 – 1.21.11, so players can join without installing anything. Capez requires the client and works with the server optional, and it is under the MIT License with files for 26.2 only.
