What it does

Simple Health Indicators draws lightweight health indicators over entities in the world. Players and mobs can each show a readout, and the display scales with distance so nearby entities read clearly while distant ones stay unobtrusive. Several display modes are available, including a vanilla-style heart row that works with texture packs, a numeric value, and a custom textured health bar. Hardcore hearts and poison and wither status can be shown in the heart mode.

The mod is a Fabric mod for Minecraft 26.3, with files for 1.21.9 – 26.3 across eight release versions. It runs on the client only, so players install it and servers do not need it. The source code and issue tracker are public, and the code is released under the MIT License, so the project is open source. Its first build was published on 2026-02-10 and the latest Fabric file, v1.1.5 for 26.3, on 2026-10-01.

Key features

  1. Multiple health display modes

Players can switch between heart, numeric and bar displays, and change mode in more than one way while playing.

  2. Custom health bar textures

The bar mode accepts custom textures, so the readout can match the look of a resource pack.

  3. Hardcore and status hearts

The heart mode can show hardcore hearts and the poison and wither states, so these conditions stay visible.

  4. Distance-scaled rendering

Indicators above entities shrink with distance, keeping close targets readable without crowding the screen.

Use cases

Tracking mob health in combat

A numeric or bar indicator above a mob shows how much damage it has taken during a fight.

Pack-friendly heart display

Players using texture packs can keep vanilla-style hearts over entities, since the heart mode follows that look.

Who it’s for: Players who want health shown over other players and mobs, and who run the game on their own client without a server-side install.
