Simple Storage

by ShadowDara

Simple Storage is a server-side storage mod, shipped as a data pack with Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt files, that keeps items on a disk network reached from one terminal.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.21 – 1.21.3

What it does

Storage capacity is held on disks, and the author describes it as nearly unlimited, so a network is not capped by a single chest. Items are reached through a storage terminal, which removes the need to open each container in turn. Setup is simple on the data pack side, since the storage system is added to the world without a separate installation step.

The mod needs a server to run it. Server owners install it, and players connect with a client that does not need the mod. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with the latest build V1.0+mod for 1.21.3, dated 2025-03-10, and earlier builds cover 1.21, 1.21.1 and 1.21.2. The author notes further items planned for future updates, but none are listed in the current release. The code is not open source; the author keeps all rights reserved, and the source code and issue tracker are linked publicly.

Key features

  1. Disk-based storage network

Items are stored on disks that form one shared network, so the capacity of a setup grows with the disks added.

  2. Terminal access

A storage terminal gives the player access to everything on the network from one place.

  3. Nearly unlimited capacity

Capacity is described by the author as close to infinite, which lets a single network hold a large item collection.

  4. Data pack setup

The storage system is added through a data pack, so no extra block setup is required to start using it.

Use cases

Who it’s for: Server owners who want a central storage network for their players, and players on those servers who collect many item types. Single-player worlds can use it as well, since the server side runs there too.
