Simple Recycling

Simple Recycling detects metal tools and armour by checking their material and trying to match them against standard crafting shapes such as pickaxe, shovel, hoe, sword, axe, shears, chestplate, leggings, boots and helmet. Recipes that use only the standard crafting pattern are detected automatically, and tools that do not match can be added by hand in the config file. Once detected, a tool can be smelted back into its ingots, which makes it a simple way to recover metal from worn-out gear.

The mod reads material names from the ore dictionary. Materials whose names start with ingot are added as smeltable by default, and an option in the config file lets server owners require macerating for gems instead. When IC2 is installed, the same items can be macerated into dust, the form that metal tools take after pulverizing. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Builds cover 1.6.4 – 1.7.10, and the latest Forge file is 59.0.1 for 1.7.10, published 2023-06-15.
