Simple Playtime Command

by MVPFishstock

Simple Playtime Command adds a single command that shows how long the player has been in the world, drawn from the game's own play time statistic.

FabricClient or server, optionalMIT License1.21.3 – 1.21.10

What it does

Typing the playtime command in chat prints the total time a player has spent in the game. The value comes from the built-in play time stat that Minecraft already tracks, so the mod does not keep a separate counter. The raw tick count is converted into seconds and then into hours and minutes for display.

The mod is a lightweight Fabric addition for Minecraft 1.21.3 – 1.21.10 and needs Fabric API. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, so it can be installed on a single-player world, a Fabric server, or both. The code is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Quick command

A single command prints the total playtime without any menus or setup steps.

  2. Readable time format

Ticks are converted to seconds and displayed as hours and minutes, so the number reads at a glance.

  3. Uses the built-in stat

The value is read from Minecraft's own play time statistic rather than from a file the mod writes.

  4. Minimal configuration

The mod has no options to set, and it works as soon as Fabric API is present.

Full comparison

Wakatime mod is client-side only, not open source, under the WTFPL, and targets 1.21.1 – 1.21.4, so it covers an older range than this mod. Playtime-Reborn is client-side only, released under The Unlicense and open source, with files for 1.21 – 1.21.1. Play Time Tracker is server-side only, open source under the Apache License 2.0, and published for 1.21 alone. Those alternatives differ in environment, license and version range from Simple Playtime Command, which works on either side, and neither side needs it, under the MIT License.
