Show Yourself
by Feytox
With Show Yourself installed, a player can right-click another player to read that player's nickname, even when the server hides it above their heads.
What it does
Some servers hide player nicknames above the characters, which makes it hard to tell who is who when another player stands at a distance. The mod shows the hidden nickname of a nearby player once the client has it, so a player who wants to identify an unfamiliar character can right-click the player and read the name. The mod suits servers that display nicknames only through a plugin, and it does not change what the server sends beyond that.
The reach of this lookup is set in the configuration file, up to a maximum of 64 blocks. Plugins that show names over long distances usually already do the job, so the mod is most useful when the other player is close enough for a right-click to reach them and the plugin's own range has ended. The mod runs on the client only, so servers do not need to install it and players can join without it.
The project is published for Fabric, with files for 18 game versions 1.18.2 – 1.21.9, and the latest file is 1.21.9-1.1.2 for 1.21.9. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
