ShinyShift – Shiny Exchange Gem
by trandaiquoc
ShinyShift turns shiny conversion for Cobblemon Pokémon into a ritual at a multi-layer altar, replacing the old direct-use item.
What it does
The mod adds a Shiny Altar structure that a player builds from blocks, then uses with a Shiny Exchange Gem. The target Pokémon has to be positioned on the Shiny Stone Block at the center, with the Thunder Stone Block forming the activation layer. Every layer must match the layout, since the altar only responds once the arrangement is complete. Right-clicking with the gem held starts the conversion.
If the target Pokémon is not yet shiny, it converts, the gem is consumed, and particles and sound effects play. A Pokémon that is already shiny leaves the gem intact. Recalling a Pokémon partway through the process consumes the gem without a conversion, so players should keep the Pokémon in place until it finishes. The design follows a structured, progression-based shiny system for Cobblemon survival and multiplayer servers, keeping shiny Pokémon rare.
ShinyShift requires Architectury API and Cobblemon, and is published for Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.1 only. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Multi-layer Shiny Altar
The altar is built in layers: a Sea Lantern top, a Glow Ink Sac middle and a bottom layer, with the Shiny Stone Block at the center.
Right-click conversion
Holding the Shiny Exchange Gem and right-clicking the altar converts a Pokémon standing inside the zone.
Gem consumption rules
The gem is used up when a conversion happens, and stays in the inventory when the Pokémon is already shiny.
Layered crafting recipe
The gem is crafted from a layered pattern that uses a Netherite Block and Glow Ink Sacs, shown in a crafting preview image.
