Shearable Vines - NeoForge
by MaxJNSN
Shearable Vines lets a player right-click a vine with shears to stop it from growing further, so built areas keep their look.
What it does
Vines in vanilla Minecraft spread over time, which can cover builds and ruins that the player wants to keep as they are. Shearable Vines adds a shears interaction: clipping a vine stops its random growth from continuing, and the vine remains in place. Each clip uses one durability point on the shears and plays a clipping sound, so the action gives clear feedback.
The mod works through a custom block state property that marks a vine as sheared. Growth logic is suppressed only for sheared vines, and the mod adds no new blocks or items to the game. Because of that, it stays lightweight and works the same in a single-player world or on a server. It is published for NeoForge 1.21.1 only and is released under the MIT License, so the source code is open source. Installation covers the server and each player's game.

Use cases
Protecting a finished build
A player who spent hours on a structure can clip the vines that threaten to cover it.
Maintaining ruins
Overgrown ruins can keep their look while growth is halted where it would hide important details.
Who it’s for: Builders and survival players who want to control vine growth on their structures, and server owners who need a simple, server-side friendly utility.
How it compares
Not So Creeping Vines runs on NeoForge 1.21.1 with the same client and server environment, but it is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. What the author says
Have you ever spent hours perfecting a build, only for vines to overgrow and cover up all your hard work? Shearable Vines is a lightweight utility mod that lets you "clip" vines to stop them in their tracks. When you shear a vine, it sets a hidden sheared property to true. The mod then cancels the "random tick"…
