Rock n Stone
by Rasa Novum
Rock n Stone changes how ores are placed in the world, so each ore appears only where its environmental conditions allow.
What it does
Instead of the normal placement of ores, the mod reads a set of JSON files that describe restrictions for specific NoiseRouter values. For each chunk it checks whether an ore should generate, based on those restrictions, which lets ore distribution follow individual sets of rules in a data-driven manner. Climate and other environmental conditions can make certain ores spawn more often in some terrain types than in vanilla worlds.
Rock n Stone requires MidnightLib, which must be installed alongside it on both Fabric and NeoForge. The mod is published for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 and runs on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Its license is custom and the mod is not open source; the public source code, issue tracker and wiki are linked from its listing.
Key features
Condition-based ore spawning
Ores generate only under the environmental conditions that their data files describe, instead of uniformly across the world.
Data-driven ore sets
Ore distribution is defined in JSON files, so individual sets of rules can be changed without editing code.
Terrain-dependent placement
Certain ores spawn more often in dedicated terrain types, with climate shaping where they appear.
Per-chunk checks
Each chunk is tested against the restrictions to decide whether an ore is placed there.
Planned core sampling
The author mentions future additions that would implement core sampling as a form of geological sampling.

Use cases
Custom ore worlds
Pack makers can write their own ore sets to shape where resources appear across a world.
Who it’s for: Modpack creators and server owners who want ore distribution tied to terrain and climate rather than the default placement. Players who only install the mod will see the altered ore layout without further setup.
How it compares
Geological Consistency is a NeoForge-only option for 1.21.1, released under the MIT License, and it runs on client and server. Where Are The Ores? covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.18 – 1.21.11 under All rights reserved, and only the server needs it. Rock n Stone is a Fabric and NeoForge mod for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 that also runs on client and server.

What the author says
Rock n Stone is a world generation mod that changes ore distribution to follow individual sets of climate and environmental conditions, making certain ores spawn in more dedicated types of terrain than in Vanilla.
