Geological Consistency
by PerryRat
Geological Consistency makes ore generation follow geology, so the type of stone a player mines shapes which ores and loot appear there.
What it does
Ore placement in the world follows a set of real-world inspired rules for how rock types and sediments form, instead of being scattered at random. Players who explore underground see deposits that match the stone around them, and the stone itself tells a story about where it came from.
Loot follows the same logic. Tough rocks give more drops when broken, and soft sediments grant more experience, while exotic stones appear less often. The mod runs on NeoForge for 1.21.1 and requires no other mod. Because it changes world generation and drops, both the server and every player need it. The code is under the MIT License, but the project is not open source.
Key features
Geology-driven ore generation
Ores generate according to the rock they sit in, so deposits make sense when a player digs into a cave wall or a mountain.
Stone type shapes loot
The stone a block is made of determines what drops when it is broken, so mining is tied to the surrounding geology.
Tough rocks yield more
Harder rock types return additional drops, rewarding players who work through dense stone.
Soft sediment gives experience
Breaking soft sediments grants more experience than harder stone, so loose ground is worth digging.
Rare exotic stones
Exotic stone types are placed less often, so finding one stays a notable event during exploration.

Use cases
Exploring deep caves
A player following a cave system can read the rock layers and predict which ores are likely to be nearby.
Survival resource gathering
Players who gather resources gain a reason to pick different stone types, since the choice affects drops and experience.
Who it’s for: Players who want ore placement and mining rewards to follow a consistent geological logic, and server owners who run worlds where that consistency matters.
How it compares
Rock n Stone is a Fabric and NeoForge mod for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, released under a custom license and not open source, and it runs on client and server. Create: Geology is a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 only, also under a custom license and not open source, with the same client and server environment. Geological Consistency covers only NeoForge and only 1.21.1, under the MIT License.
