RFDrills
by gardenappl
RFDrills, a Forge add-on for Thermal Expansion and EnderIO, adds RF-powered drills, chainsaws and an upgradable omni-tool to Minecraft 1.7.10.
What it does
The drills dig both hard materials such as stone and soft materials such as dirt, and their mining mode draws power from the RF energy network. Chainsaws cover the work of both axes and shears, and an upgradable omni-tool combines the set. Four tool tiers and a line of progression let players move from early tools to the top-tier omni-tool, with ingredients drawn from items added by other installed mods.
The mod requires CoFH Core. Thermal Expansion, EnderIO, Redstone Arsenal and Thermal Expansion are optional; the drills and chainsaws are tied to RF power, so the mod is most useful alongside the energy systems they add. Builds are published for Forge only, for 1.7.10, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
RF-powered drills
Drills run on RF energy, and the amount of power used depends on the mining mode a player selects.
Chainsaws
Chainsaws perform the work of axes and shears, so one tool covers tree cutting and shearing tasks.
Four tool tiers
Tools come in four tiers, each with its own crafting recipe and mining speed.
Upgradable omni-tool
An omni-tool combines the functions of the drills and chainsaws and can be upgraded in a similar way to jetpacks.

Use cases
Early power-driven mining
A player who has an RF network can replace hand tools with drills for faster digging in the first stages of a 1.7.10 world.
Wood and shearing work
Chainsaws replace separate axes and shears when clearing trees or collecting wool and leaves.
Who it’s for: Players of Minecraft 1.7.10 who run an RF-based energy system through Thermal Expansion or EnderIO, and server owners who want powered mining tools on a shared world.

What the author says
Why not upload an ancient 1.7.10 mod to Modrinth...? This little addon to Thermal Expansion and EnderIO adds drills and chainsaws. Drills can mine both hard materials, like stone, and soft materials, like dirt! Chainsaws can be used both as axes and as shears. Also, they are all upgradable in a similar fashion to…
