Resource Pack Tweaks
by drtheodor
Resource Pack Tweaks changes how Minecraft handles resource packs sent by a server, adding options for loading order, logging and pack retention.
What it does
The mod changes resource pack behaviour in a few targeted ways. A server pack can be given a different position or priority in the pack list, and the number of server packs kept on disk before older ones are purged can be capped with a max-packs setting. A preload option can load the most recent server pack before the game starts, which saves time when a player rejoins the same server.
Logging for server packs that are de-loaded because of a poor connection can be switched off, which keeps the log readable on unstable networks. The mod is a client-side tool: players install it on their own game, and servers run without it. Installation needs Fabric or Quilt, and the mod's own optional dependencies are Cloth Config API and Mod Menu.
Files are published for 15 release versions, 1.18 – 1.20.6, and the latest build, 1.1.2-1.20.4 for 1.20.6, was released on 2024-06-26 on the beta channel. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source repository and issue tracker are linked from the project page.
Key features
Server pack priority
The position of a server resource pack in the pack list can be changed, so it can sit above or below other packs.
Pack retention limit
A max-packs setting controls how many server packs are kept before the oldest ones are purged from disk.
Quieter disconnect logging
Logging of server packs that are de-loaded after a bad internet connection can be turned off, keeping the log clearer.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who join servers that send resource packs and want more control over pack order, retention and loading. The mod is installed on the client only, so server owners do not need to add it.
How it compares
Simple Resource Loader is a Fabric and Quilt library with the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, open source and usable on either side. ServerPackUnlockerPlus is a Fabric mod for 1.19.2 – 1.19.4 under the MIT License, and it runs on the client alone, like Resource Pack Tweaks. Recursive Resources targets Fabric for 1.18.2 – 1.21.7 under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and is also client-side only.
