Reasonable Sorting
by SolidBlock
Reasonable Sorting arranges the Creative Mode inventory, so items, blocks and decorations appear in a predictable order instead of the default layout.
What it does
The mod only changes the Creative Mode inventory screen. Sorting is applied when that screen opens, based on rules that combine content, sorting result and the registry iteration order. Stairs, slabs, fence gates and other decoration blocks follow the base block they belong to, and colorful blocks are grouped in gradient color order. Because sorting is calculated when the screen opens, a large item registry can cause a short delay each time the creative inventory is opened.
Sorting behavior and transfer behavior between item groups can be set in the config file, and the mod can also be configured through Mod Menu, which is optional. Installation requires Cloth Config API on every loader. Fabric builds also need Fabric API, and Quilt builds for 1.18.2 and above need Quilted Fabric API (QFAPI) or Quilt Standard Libraries (QSL). Players need the mod on their client, while a server may run without it. Reasonable Sorting is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only. Files target game versions 1.15 – 1.19.2 on Fabric, Forge and Quilt, and snapshot builds are published as well.
Key features
Sorted creative inventory
Items in the Creative Mode inventory are arranged into a consistent order, so a search for a specific block takes less scrolling.
Decorations follow their base block
Stairs, slabs and fence gates are placed next to the block they are made from, and decoration blocks are moved with their relevant base.
Gradient color order
Colorful blocks are grouped and sorted by color in a gradient order.
Custom sorting rules
The config file defines how sorting is calculated and which item group transfer rules apply, with default values kept where no change is made.
Optional detailed logging
A logging option records more detailed information about the mod, which helps when tracking down a sorting problem.
