Realistic Erosion
by thecarrs96
Realistic Erosion, by thecarrs96, changes how soil and rock blocks wear away over time, with a chain where one block erodes the next.
What it does
The mod is loosely based on an older erosion mod and adds new blocks for soil and rock erosion, along with erosion paths that include ice and snow variants. Erosion works as a flowchart: a block gradually turns into the block that follows it in the chain, and the path is meant to behave like a single process rather than a one-step swap.
Erosion happens slowly on purpose. The code picks a random block to check on each pass, and sometimes the same block is picked several times in a row, so a visible change can take a long time. The author notes a warning that the mod may look non-functional at first because of this design, which is meant to imitate natural erosion more closely.
Realistic Erosion is server-side only, so players join without installing it and only the server needs the mod. It is published for Forge and NeoForge, with a Forge build for 1.20.1 and NeoForge builds for 1.21.4 and 1.21.8. The latest NeoForge file is 1.0.3 for 1.21.8, and the latest Forge file is 1.0.0 for 1.20.1. The code is under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Soil and rock erosion
New blocks wear down over time in a set order, so soil and rock change gradually instead of at once.
Ice and snow erosion paths
Erosion paths include ice and snow stages, giving terrain a sequence of changes.
Chained block progression
Each block erodes into the next in a flowchart, so one change leads to the following stage.
Randomized checks
The mod picks a random block on each pass, which keeps the timing uneven and mimics natural wear.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Gradual terrain change on a server
Server owners can run erosion on a world where terrain should change slowly over long play sessions.
Who it’s for: Server owners who want terrain to wear down slowly, and players who accept that visible changes may take a long time to appear.

What the author says
The function of this mod is to add in "paths" for erosion for context here a path means somethin more like a single line flowchart where one block erodes into another then another and so on. Slight warning the mod may appear to be non-functional due to how it well functions but the code is designed to work but due to…
