RaccoonCore

by KamKeyke

RaccoonCore is a Forge library that other mods use for shared infrastructure such as a server task scheduler, color and time helpers, and player list command arguments.

ForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 1.20.6

What it does

Developers who write several small Forge mods often repeat the same setup code. RaccoonCore gathers that shared code into one base library so each project can depend on it instead of carrying its own copy. The library adds no gameplay content of its own; it supplies utilities that other projects call.

Two other catalog mods, Selective Vanish and Heartpouch, require RaccoonCore to run. Any mod that lists it as a dependency needs it installed on the same side, and the library is built for Forge only. Files exist for 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, and the latest file is 1.20.1-forge-2.6.0 for 1.20.6, published on 2026-08-11.

RaccoonCore is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and public source code is available. Because it is a client and server library, both the server and every player need it whenever a dependent mod is installed.

Key features

  1. Server task scheduler

Schedules tasks to run on the server thread, so dependent mods can queue work without managing timing themselves.

  2. Player list command argument

Provides a command argument that accepts a player from the online list, reducing repeated parsing code in command handlers.

  3. Color utilities

Helper methods for working with colors, shared so each mod does not have to write its own conversions.

  4. Time utilities

Helper methods for handling in-game time values, collected in one place for reuse across projects.

Use cases

Building a family of small mods

A developer who maintains several Forge utilities can keep common code in RaccoonCore and update it once for all of them.

Who it’s for: Forge mod developers who want shared utilities for their own projects, and players who use mods that depend on RaccoonCore.

How it compares

FastLib is a Forge library for 1.20.1 under All rights reserved, and it is not open source. AlmirionCore is another Forge library, covering 1.12.2 – 1.20.1, also under All rights reserved and not open source. Atlas Lib is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only and supports Forge and NeoForge for 1.12.2 – 1.21.1, which is a wider loader and version range than RaccoonCore's Forge-only 1.20.1 – 1.20.6.

Questions

Does Selective Vanish need RaccoonCore?

Yes. Selective Vanish requires RaccoonCore, so the library must be installed alongside it on the same loader and version.

Does RaccoonCore have to be installed on the server?

Yes. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod.

Which Minecraft versions does RaccoonCore cover?

Files exist for 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5 and 1.20.6. The latest file is for 1.20.6, so the library does not cover other releases.
