Selective Vanish

by KamKeyke

Selective Vanish lets a player who is vanished on a Forge server choose exactly which other players can see them, instead of hiding from everyone.

ForgeServer-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 1.20.6

What it does

Selective Vanish extends VanishMod on the server, adding per-player visibility so a hidden player can stay visible to chosen players while the rest see nothing. Permissions are stored in the server's own saved data, separate from the team system, so they do not interfere with teams. The state lives in the world and persists between sessions.

The mod requires RaccoonCore and VanishMod. Only the server needs it installed; clients do not need to install anything. It runs on Forge for Minecraft 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, with files published for six release versions, and the latest Forge file, 1.20.1-forge-5.0.0, targets 1.20.6. The code is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, so it is open source. The author states that it was designed for Forge and has not yet been ported to NeoForge.

Key features

  1. Selective visibility

Chosen players can see a vanished player while everyone else still cannot, using per-player permissions.

  2. Commands for single players

The sv allow, sv deny and sv clear commands grant, revoke or reset visibility for one player at a time.

  3. Group syntax

The same commands accept a group of player names, so several players can be managed in one command.

  4. Independent permission data

Permissions are stored in the server's own saved data and do not depend on the vanilla team system, which is disabled by default in VanishMod.

Questions

Does Selective Vanish need RaccoonCore?

Yes. RaccoonCore is a required dependency, and VanishMod is also required. Both must be installed on the server alongside Selective Vanish.

Do players need to install Selective Vanish?

No. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own.

Can it run on NeoForge or Fabric?

The mod is published for Forge only. The author notes that it has not been ported to NeoForge yet.

Are visibility settings kept after a restart?

Yes. The data is saved directly in the server's world, so the visibility choices persist between sessions.
