Proximity Lamp
by FunkyToc
Proximity Lamp lets redstone lamps, candles, copper bulbs and campfires switch on when a player comes near them, with several light modes to choose from.
What it does
The mod adds four light modes to blocks that can be lit: a proximity mode that turns the light on when a player is in range, a night mode that only enables the proximity check after dark, a permanent mode that keeps the light on, and a toggle. Redstone lamps, candles, copper bulbs and campfires all work with it, and the detection distance can be tuned through the proximity level, which a redstone signal can lower.
The server must run the mod, while the client can optionally install it for the full set of features. Proximity Lamp is published for Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 29 release versions, 1.17 – 1.21.11, and a data pack is available for servers. The code is under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 license, so the mod is not open source. The author lists an issue tracker and a wiki for reports and documentation.
Key features
Four light modes
Each supported block can be set to proximity, night-only proximity, permanent lit, or a toggle that uses sound.
Redstone and material triggers
Alternative power can be supplied with redstone, and a lamp can be lit by throwing a material at it, such as quartz or white wool.
Adjustable detection distance
A redstone signal can decrease the proximity level, and blocks can be stacked to change the detection range.
Datapack support
Behavior is defined in a datapack included with the mod, so servers can adjust how lights react without code changes.

Use cases
Automatic lighting
Entrances, paths and rooms light up as players walk in and go dark when they leave, without any wiring.
Night-only lighting
Night mode keeps a light off during the day and enables proximity detection only after dark.
Who it’s for: Builders and server owners who want lights that react to players without manual switches or extra mods for each block type.
