Progression Reforged reworks the early equipment path for NeoForge 1.21.1, with copper tools as a bridge and a new steel tier.
What it does
Stone tools are crafted from Stone instead of Cobblestone, and a Stone Pickaxe is not enough to break Iron Ore. Copper tools must be made first, so the early game lasts longer before the iron stage.
Steel is a new equipment tier placed between Iron and Diamond. Diamond gear is not crafted directly; Steel is forged from Iron first, which gives the later tiers a clear purpose. Existing items and blocks receive new alternatives for gradual upgrades, while vanilla content is left in place. The aim is a gentler, steadier climb that keeps the familiar feel of the game without adding systems that complicate it.
The mod requires NeoForge and runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. Progression Reforged is published for 1.21.1 only, with the latest file at 1.7.0 from 2026-10-15. It was first published on 2026-07-27, and the code is All rights reserved; the mod is not open source.
