Primitive Flaming

by Kxffie

Primitive Flaming lets a bow or crossbow shoot flaming arrows when flint steel is held in the offhand, without the Flame enchantment.

FabricClient or server, optionalMIT License1.21.5

What it does

Holding a bow or a crossbow in the main hand and flint steel in the offhand turns each shot into a flaming arrow. The Flame enchantment is not needed, so the effect is available from the early stages of a world, before enchanting becomes practical. Each flaming shot uses up durability on the flint steel, so the tool wears down as it lights arrows.

The mod suits players who want a simple way to light arrows with readily available materials. A flint steel needs one iron ingot and one piece of flint, both gathered early in the game. Flint steel is the only item the effect depends on, and the mod works with both bows and crossbows.

Primitive Flaming is published for Fabric only, for Minecraft 1.21.5. It requires Fabric API. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, so it can sit on a single player's client, on a server, or on both. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Flaming arrows from flint steel

Shooting with flint steel in the offhand lights the arrow without any enchantment on the bow or crossbow.

  2. Bows and crossbows

The effect applies to both bow and crossbow shots, so either weapon can fire flaming arrows.

  3. Durability cost on flint steel

Each flaming shot reduces the durability of the flint steel, so the tool is used up over time.

  4. Early-game access

The flaming effect does not require enchanting, making it an option early in a world.
