Prehistoric Nature
by Aecht_Rob
Prehistoric Nature brings the natural history of the Earth into Minecraft, from the beginning of life through the age of dinosaurs and the ice age, for Forge on 1.12.2.
What it does
The mod adds hundreds of prehistoric animals and plants, along with other early life, all modeled on published paleontological research. The development team includes paleontological professionals who checked concepts, models, textures and behaviours against the science. Players can revive and capture prehistoric life through gameplay, and nests, eggs and related items support that loop.
Extra worlds are offered as separate dimension mods, each with multi-biome designs that represent a different period of the Earth's prehistory, such as Jurassic, Triassic, Devonian, Precambrian and Cambrian. Prehistoric Nature needs Patchouli, which provides the in-game guide. The Palaeopedia item holds the information about every creature, and entries open as a player collects them. Shift-clicking the Palaeopedia opens it for use.
The mod is licensed as All rights reserved and is not open source. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files cover 1.12.2 only, and the latest Forge build is 63.02 for 1.12.2, dated 2025-12-31. It was first published on 2023-08-30, and the mod was last updated on the same date as the latest file.
