Power Networks

by MattiDragon

Power Networks lets players link energy coils with wires, so energy moves across a network of machines under a tiered, configurable system.

What it does

Coils are the core of the mod. Each coil carries two energy buffers, an input and an output, both sized by its tier. Other mods push energy into the input buffer, while the output buffer is the one that releases it. Coils join into a network by connecting them with wire, first clicking one coil and then the other. Energy is redistributed across the network during each network tick, and it is spread evenly across output buffers.

Coils come in four tiers: basic, improved, advanced and top tier. Each tier has a different capacity, and each coil can be set to input only, output only or both. Nodes can be configured to transfer energy in one direction only by clicking them. Power Networks is server-side only, so servers run it alone and players join without installing anything. It requires Fabric API, and it is published for Fabric and Quilt under the MIT License, which is open source. Files cover 1.19.4 – 1.20.6.

Key features

  1. Energy coil networks

Coils and wires form networks that move energy between connected energy sources and consumers.

  2. Four coil tiers

Basic, improved, advanced and top tier coils differ in buffer size and transfer rate.

  3. Input and output control

Each coil can be set to accept energy, release it, or do both, and nodes can be limited to one direction.

  4. Custom textures

Texture changes apply after rejoining, and clients fetch skin-based textures from a URL.
