Player Corpses

by PizzaEight

When a player dies, Player Corpses leaves a lootable corpse at the place of death in place of the dropped items, and the corpse carries the player's skin name.

What it does

The mod replaces the usual scatter of dropped items with a corpse that holds the player's inventory. The corpse can be opened by right-clicking, and it can be looted instantly, so items return to the owner without collecting each stack by hand. Only the owner of a corpse can take from it, and a corpse that is not looted goes away after a despawn timer, which the config screen can change or switch off.

The death point is also sent to the player in a chat message with coordinates, and a Corpse Finder screen lists the loaded corpses with their positions. The screen opens through a key binding or by typing a command. The config screen offers many options, so server owners and players can set how the pack behaves. The mod has its own support for Trinkets, Updated Trinkets, Trinkets Canary and Trinkets Continued, and it is also available as a data pack. Player Corpses runs on the server; players can join without installing it.

Key features

  1. Lootable corpses

Items left at the death point are stored in a corpse that the owner can open and take from later.

  2. Instant looting

A corpse can be emptied at once, so the owner gets every item back in one action.

  3. Despawn timer

Uncollected corpses disappear after a set time, which the config screen can adjust or disable.

  4. Corpse Finder screen

The screen lists loaded corpses with their coordinates, so the owner can locate them again.

  5. Chat message on death

A chat message with the death coordinates is sent to the player each time they die.

  6. Zombified and head drops

Corpses can turn into zombified forms and drop the player's head, adding to the death scene.
