Platform
by ItsBlackgear
With Platform installed, mods written for Forge and Fabric can use one shared set of APIs, since the library is built on Architectury.
What it does
Platform is a cross-platform library built on Architectury. It gives mod developers access to both the Forge and Fabric APIs from a single codebase, and it supports the Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt loaders. Fabric API is required on Fabric, and the library works on client and server, so either side can run it, and neither needs it.
The library bundles a set of utilities: a mod instance builder, a registry builder, biome modification and placement registries, creative tab creation and modification, and helpers for vanilla integration. It also provides wood types, villager trades, networking, configuration, events and particles. Other catalog mods list it as a requirement, among them Vanilla Backport, Rotten Creatures and CaveBiomeAPI.
Files exist for four game versions: 1.16.5, 1.19.2, 1.20.1 and 1.21.1. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with the newest Fabric and Forge files at 1.3.4 for 1.20.1 and the newest NeoForge file at 1.3.3 for 1.21.1. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
Mod instance builder
A builder helps developers assemble a mod instance from one shared definition, without writing loader-specific setup code.
Registry builder
A built-in registry builder lets mods register their own content types through a single interface.
Biome modification and placement
Registries for biome modification and biome placement let mods change or add biomes in the world generation pipeline.
Creative tab control
Mods can create new creative inventory tabs or modify existing ones through the library's utilities.
Utility classes
A collection of helpers covers vanilla integration, particles, wood types, villager trades, networking, configuration and events.
Compatibility

Use cases
Cross-loader mod development
Developers who publish one mod for both Forge and Fabric can rely on a shared API layer instead of maintaining two separate code paths.
Biome and world generation mods
Mods that add or modify biomes can use the biome registries to place their content without touching loader internals.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who target more than one loader, and players who install mods that depend on the library.
How it compares
JRAPI is a Fabric, Forge and NeoForge library, open source under the MIT License, that covers 1.20.2 – 1.20.4 and is client and server. MythLib is open source under the MIT License, covers Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and is limited to 1.20.1. Platform covers four game versions and is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
