Patched
by EnderTurret
Patched lets data and resource packs change individual parts of JSON files, such as biomes, loot tables and models, instead of replacing those files outright.
What it does
Patched lets a pack add patch files next to a JSON file it wants to change. A patch can remove or add world generation features in a biome, add or remove advancement criteria, edit loot tables, modify recipes, or target every file matching a pattern. Changes can be conditional on other loaded mods or on configuration options, so one pack can adapt to the mods installed beside it.
Patched is meant to reduce conflicts between packs and between mods that touch the same file, because each patch edits only the part it names. Changes stay in place when Minecraft updates unrelated parts of a file. The mod also includes commands such as patchedc list and patchedc dump, which show the packs and patches in use and the contents of a patched file with comments marking each change. Patches are read only from packs that opt in through their pack.mcmeta, which keeps load time down in large modpacks.
The mod is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only and is open source. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 27 release versions, 1.18.2 – 26.2, and it runs on the client, the server, or both. It requires Quilted Fabric API (QFAPI) or Quilt Standard Libraries (QSL), and Fabric API is optional.
Key features
Partial JSON patching
Packs edit selected entries in a JSON file rather than shipping a full copy that overwrites the original.
Conditional patches
A patch can apply only when chosen mods are loaded or when a configuration option is set.
Pattern-based edits
One patch can target every file matching a path pattern, for example all biomes.
Inspection commands
Commands list the active packs and patches and dump a patched file with its changes marked by comments.

How it compares
Supplemental Patches is client-side only, open source under the MIT License and published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.20 – 26.2, so it changes only the client. Criteria Sync is server-side only, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later and published for Fabric across 1.20.2 – 26.2, so clients need nothing installed.

What the author says
Patched is a mod that provides the ability for data/resource packs (and mods!) to modify parts of json files, allowing them to avoid outright replacing them. This mod can be used for patching biomes, loot tables, models, and most other json files in the game. Whenever Mojang finally makes entity models data-driven…
