PaletteAPI
by Wild Mods
PaletteAPI is a Forge developer library that creates dynamic weighted block palettes for custom structure world generation.
What it does
A palette is a list of blocks with weights, and the palette is chosen during world generation. Structure authors use processor lists to swap blocks in a placed structure, for example turning iron blocks into a mix of cobblestone, mossy cobblestone and cracked stone bricks. Weights are relative to each other rather than summing to 100, so a higher weight means a block appears more often. Because the choice is seeded from the block position, a given chunk reproduces the same layout every time it is generated.
Work runs while the world is being generated, which is why only the server has to install the mod. Only the server runs it, and the mod is aimed at modpack and mod developers who want to build palettes in code. Anyone building their own mod adds PaletteAPI as a dependency and uses its Java API. The library is published for Forge only, for 1.20.1, with version 1.0.0 as the latest file. The code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Weighted block palettes
Each palette entry holds a block and a weight, so a single structure block can be replaced by several varied blocks.
Processor list files
A processor list placed under the worldgen processor list data folder tells the game to use PaletteAPI for block replacement.
Block state and properties
An entry can name a plain block or a block with properties, such as the facing and half of stairs, so states are kept.
Waterlogged and rotated matches
A target block matches its waterlogged and rotated variants as well, while air is left alone.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Who it’s for: Datapack and mod developers who build custom structures, and server owners who run them. Players on a client without the mod need nothing installed.

What the author says
Say you build a ruin out of iron blocks. Drop PaletteAPI's processor on it and every iron block turns into cobble, or mossy cobble, or cracked bricks, whatever weights you hand it. The pick is locked to the world position too, so a chunk always comes back looking the same. No flickering when you reload. It's a server…
