PacketDiscard
by gstaaij
PacketDiscard, a Fabric server-side mod, drops roughly half of the non-essential packets a server would otherwise send to players.
What it does
By dropping roughly half of the outgoing packets the server would otherwise send, the mod cuts network traffic, but it keeps login, chunk loading and keep-alive packets intact. Only the server needs it, so players join without installing anything. Builds cover 1.19.4 – 1.21.1 and require Fabric API, with the latest file 1.1.0+1.20 for 1.20.1, released 2026-01-04 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
Partial packet discard
Roughly half of non-essential packets the server would send are dropped before they reach players.
Essential packets kept
Login, chunk load and keep-alive packets are never discarded, so connections and world loading stay intact.
Server-side only
Installing it on the server alone is enough; clients need nothing extra.

What the author says
PacketDiscard is a server-side mod that discards (doesn't send) 50% of packets the server tries to send, except for the essential ones like login packets, Chunk load packets and keep-alive packets. Thanks to YTG1234 for PacketIgnore, the mod that inspired me to make this one.
