Pack Manager

by Microcontrollers

Pack Manager replaces the vanilla resource pack menu with a folder-based screen that lets players organize their packs.

What it does

The mod reworks the resource pack list so packs can be sorted into folders, moved between them and reached through a navigation view. A flat view shows every pack from every folder in one list, and a search field matches pack names and descriptions with wildcard support. Folders can be given custom icons and an ordering, and a folder can be enabled as a whole, which in practice works like a saved profile of packs.

The project brings the Recursive Resources idea to modern releases of the game, with quality-of-life features added on top. It is built for Fabric and requires Fabric API. Servers do not need it; each player installs it for their own game. It is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 and is open source, with public source code and an issue tracker. Files target 26.1 – 26.2, and the latest build, 1.1.1 for 26.2, was published on 2026-06-17.

Key features

  1. Folder organization

Resource packs can be grouped into folders and moved between them from inside the game.

  2. Folder customization

Each folder can receive a custom icon and a chosen position in the list, and pseudo-symlinks let one pack appear in several folders.

  3. Flat and folder views

A flat view lists packs from all folders together, while the folder view keeps the nested structure visible.

  4. Pack search

Packs can be found by name or description, and the search accepts wildcard patterns.

  5. Folder enabling

Enabling a whole folder loads every pack inside it at once, so a folder works as a profile.

How it compares

Full comparison

Resource Pack Organizer is also a folder tool, but it is client-side only, open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, and covers 1.7.10 – 1.16.3 on Fabric and Forge, so it does not reach 26.1 or 26.2. Folders! (Worlds & Servers) is client-side only, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and targets 1.19 – 26.2 on Fabric, but it organizes worlds and servers rather than resource packs. Dragable Lists (Port) is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and covers 26.1 – 26.1.2 on Fabric.

Questions

Does Pack Manager require Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is a required dependency, so it must be installed alongside Pack Manager on Fabric.

Does Pack Manager need to be installed on a server?

No. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it.

Which game versions does Pack Manager support?

Builds exist for 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2. The latest file is 1.1.1 for 26.2.

Can Pack Manager use Resourcify?

Resourcify is listed as an optional dependency, and the mod runs without it. Adding it enables extra integration with the resource pack screen.
