Oxygen Critical

Oxygen Critical is a small Fabric and Quilt client mod that fades the screen to black while the player is underwater and running out of air.
What it does
The mod adds a drowning animation: as the oxygen bar empties, the screen slowly darkens toward black, a visual cue taken from the underwater survival game Subnautica. It changes how drowning looks on screen and leaves gameplay itself untouched.
Oxygen Critical requires MidnightLib on both loaders. Files are published for Fabric and Quilt, with 1.1 for 1.21.5 as the latest Fabric build and 1.0 for 1.20.1 as the latest Quilt build. Only the client needs the mod, so a server can run without it and players may install it alone. The mod is released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license and is not open source, although its source code is public.
The author describes the mod as a short, visual-only addition, and the config screen offers few options. Players who want a more tense drowning look can add it to a modpack, where it works alongside most other mods.
