Oxidizing Lightning Rods lets copper lightning rods weather over time, changing their look in stages as they age.

What it does

Lightning rods made from copper oxidize over time, passing through the stages that copper blocks follow in vanilla. Individual oxidation stages can be seen as the rods age, and a rod can be waxed to stop the process. Players craft a normal lightning rod before it can oxidize. Client and server both need the mod, and it works on Fabric and Quilt for 1.18.1 – 1.20.6, with 1.20.6-7-fabric for 1.20.6 as the latest file. The code is not open source; the content is under CC0 1.0 Universal.

Key features

  1. Oxidation over time

    Copper lightning rods change color and texture gradually as they weather, one stage after another.

  2. Click to oxidize

    A player can click a lightning rod to speed up its oxidation without waiting for the natural process.

  3. Waxing rods

    Applying wax stops a rod at its current stage, so it keeps its look.

This Fabric mod makes it possible for you to oxidize lightning rods. The lightning rods oxidize over time and you can wax them at any stage you want. All you need to do is to craft the normal lightning rod and it will oxidize over time.
