OneLife

by AlessioDC

OneLife adds a toggleable Hardcore system to Forge worlds for 1.20.1, letting players switch Hardcore mode on and off without restarting the world.

What it does

When Hardcore is enabled, a player who dies is eliminated instead of respawning normally. The mod adds a OneLife command that switches players out of Hardcore, revives eliminated players, grants the OneLife status to other players and removes the OneLife curse from a player. These actions let a server owner or an operator adjust a run during play, and the command works in a running world.

The mod includes several custom items, among them a OneLife Sword that players can craft. The recipe becomes available only after the gamerule that enables it is turned on, so server owners control when it appears. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for Forge only, for Minecraft 1.20.1 alone, with 1.0.0 as the latest file from 2026-04-15.

Key features

  1. Toggleable Hardcore

Hardcore mode can be turned on or off inside a world that was created without it.

  2. OneLife command

An operator command moves players in and out of Hardcore, removes the curse, revives eliminated players or grants the status.

  3. Custom items

Several custom items are added, including a OneLife Sword that can be crafted once the matching gamerule is enabled.

  4. Eliminated player revival

Players who were eliminated can be brought back with the command, so a run does not have to end for good.

How it compares

Full comparison

Hardcore Revivestone is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that runs on client and server and is released under All rights reserved, so its code is not freely redistributable. Remove my Curse! is also Forge only for 1.20.1, with the same client and server environment and All rights reserved licensing. Craft Plus + is again a Forge build for 1.20.1 on client and server, and its license is All rights reserved. OneLife covers Hardcore toggling together with the curse and revive actions, while these three cover narrower parts of that set.
