One Billion Things
by ssblur
One Billion Things is a Cursed mod for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge that adds a large set of odd, playful features, most of them switchable through game rules.
What it does
The mod bundles a wide collection of unusual additions, from fox interactions and milking of unexpected things to ways of squatting in place of dying. Many of the included features are non-intrusive and most are disabled by default, so a server owner can enable only the ones wanted through game rules.
The content is meant to showcase ideas that would be impractical as standalone mods, and several items are built to remain usable in survival. The author keeps to the original premise and collects suggestions for further features in the Issues tab of the source repository.
The mod requires Architectury API on every loader, and Fabric API on Fabric. One Billion Things runs on client and server and is published for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 under a custom license that is not open source.
Key features
Enchanting with un-mending
An enchantment lets items be enchanted with un-mending, reversing the usual repair behavior of the mending enchantment.
Milking many things
A set of interactions lets players milk mobs and objects that are not normally milkable.
Fox theft
Foxes can rob players, adding an unexpected threat to the cursed side of the game.
Game rule control
Most included features can be turned off through game rules, and most are disabled by default.

Use cases
Playful survival worlds
Players who want offbeat content in a survival world can enable the features they like one at a time.
Server customization
Server owners can pick which features run on their server, since most are off until a game rule enables them.
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want a collection of strange features rather than a single system, and who are comfortable configuring game rules.
How it compares

What the author says
Most included features are either non-intrusive or can be disabled via a game rule, and most are disabled by default. This is a showcase mod more than anything, so it isn't built to be usable outright in survival. Sorry! I might not get to all of them, and might not implement some ideas at all if they are…
