Obsidian Equipment Reworked adds Obsidian tools and armor for Fabric, placing a new tier between Diamond and Netherite gear.
What it does
Obsidian Ingots are made by blasting Obsidian in a Blast Furnace, and they become the base for a full set of tools, armor and a spear. Diamond gear is upgraded to Obsidian with the Obsidian Upgrade Smithing Template, which can itself be duplicated at a Crafting Table from 7 Diamonds, 1 Obsidian and 1 template, yielding 2 templates. Obsidian gear then upgrades to Netherite, so the upgrade path runs Diamond, Obsidian, Netherite.
Obsidian Horse Armor cannot be crafted and appears only as rare loot in Nether Fortress, Bastion Treasure and Ruined Portal chests, with an 18% chance. Obsidian ocean armor is found in Shipwreck Supply, Ocean Ruin and Buried Treasure chests and gives 15 body armor points, between Diamond's 11 and Netherite's 19. It replaces Diamond as the base for Netherite ocean armor, and it can be smelted into an Obsidian Ingot.
The mod requires Fabric API. It is a Fabric-only mod for Minecraft 1.20.1 and 1.21.x, published for 13 release versions in 1.20.1 – 1.21.11, and it is a fork of an earlier Obsidian equipment project with more features and fixes. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the source, issue tracker and wiki are public.
