NotEnoughIDs Unofficial
by Cleptomania
With NotEnoughIDs Unofficial installed, Forge worlds can store block IDs and metadata beyond the original limits, and the 1.7.10 build is the one this card describes.
What it does
The mod extends block IDs and metadata for Minecraft 1.7.10. It was largely rewritten by its author but keeps the features of the original NotEnoughIDs. The one exception is metadata, which is extended to 16 bits. Versions before 2.0 extend metadata, and the earlier builds carry the same functionality as the original mod in a rewritten form. Metadata stays extended until version 2.0.
Other mods can use these features directly, where without them they would need tile entities with more complex custom NBT. The mod is drop-in compatible with worlds made with the original NotEnoughIDs, but the two cannot be used at the same time, and a replacement is included. UniMixins is required and must be installed next to it. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. Files are published for Forge only, for 1.7.10 alone, and the latest is 2.1.11 from 2026-04-26. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
Extended block IDs
Block IDs are extended beyond the vanilla limit for 1.7.10, letting worlds hold more distinct blocks.
16-bit metadata
Metadata is extended to 16 bits, so blocks can carry a wider range of states than vanilla allows.
Original feature set
The rewrite keeps the same features as the original NotEnoughIDs, so existing mod-facing behavior carries over.
Replacement for the original
A replacement for NotEnoughIDs is included, and worlds saved with the original load under this build.

How it compares
Roughly Enough IDs is the other option for block ID extension, but it is built for 1.12.2 and is open source under the MIT License. Metaworlds Unofficial and Enchantment ID Extender both target 1.7.10 on Forge with client and server environments and MIT License terms, though neither is open source. EndlessIDs also targets 1.7.10 but uses a custom license.

What the author says
It is largely completely re-written, and supports the same features as the original. With the exception that we also extend Metadata to be 16-bits. This is helpful for other mods to leverage for features that might otherwise require tile entities with more complex custom NBT. This mod is drop-in compatible with…
